Wribbenhall Millennium Green |
NEWSLETTER NO.1, JANUARY 2000 What the project is about This Newsletter is to let you know about this project designed to provide a facility for the community that is being created by the community itself. A grant from the National Lottery of £42,000 has been awarded to match local contributions to the cost of creating a Millennium Green next to Wribbenhall Community Centre. Open Day in October You may have seen in the local press that an Open Day was held on 9th October last year to start the ball rolling when various VIPs came along to support the venture. This day was well attended and there was much enthusiasm for the project and many ideas were put forward which have been taken into account in the final design.

What is proposed The plan is to provide a fenced area with some splendid wrought iron gates based on designs provided by children at Wribbenhall First School. Some of the children's drawings are reproduced below. |
|
Within the fence perimeter will be various sculptures, seating,
a small amphitheatre, various shrubs and trees and a large
structure, about 6m high, made of poles and pre-tensile wires
forming a walk-in sun-dial. To meet the concerns of the First
School Governing Body, the fence is needed to ensure that no
dogs foul the area to protect children. Working Party 25th/26th February The first step will be the laying of a footpath through the site during the February half-term week which will connect to the grounds of the First School giving access to parents and children. A Working Party will be meeting to help with the foundation work on Friday, 25th and Saturday, 26th February. |
